I’ll be the first to admit. I’m a handbag girl and almost always have been. But towards the latter part of 2015 and the last few months of 2016, I just couldn’t ignore the growing backpack trend any longer.
At first I didn’t even consider getting a backpack, thinking maybe they were too 1996, however the more I’d seen them being styled, the more I really wanted to get my hands on one. I started eyeing up the Radley Neal Street Backpack in grey but couldn’t really justify the price given I wasn’t sure how much use I would get out of it.
And then just when I thought I was right to let the cool kids own this trend and stay within the comfort zone of my trusty handbag collection, I was walking through my local Primark when this beauty (and total dupe) popped out of the shelf for a mere £10. I couldn’t believe it and snatched it up faster than anything.
I have found using my little backpack over the last few weeks so easy and I’ve generally found it goes with more outfits than I first anticipated. I think it can cutesy up an outfit, like the one I’ve styled here, or it can rock it up given the right colour pairings.
I used it a lot over my winter break and it was so refreshing not to have a heavy hand bag draped over one arm or cutting off the blood supply to my elbow. It’s fun, quirky, simple and I think can transform an outfit.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s still a lot of room in my life for my love of handbags, but I’ve been reaching for this little backpack a lot and I know it will easily transition into a Spring trend too. I’m excited to style it as the weather changes and I’m now on the look out for more backpacks to add to my collection.
