Five Happy Things #1

I think it’s really important to always try and see the good in a situation. I’m a firm believer in positivity breeding positivity, and so if you reinforce that positive feeling you’ll have a happier outlook and find happiness in the everyday.

If for example you constantly reinforce the negative such as ‘I can’t do that’, ‘I’m rubbish at that’, ‘I’m no good’, it quickly starts to become your reality. The same is true for positive reinforcement and it’s definitely something I’m always looking to get better at.

I’m going to start a new series on blog called Five Happy Things. I’ve seen a couple of other bloggers do similar things, so it’s by no means a new idea, but I think it would be really good for me (and my blog) to try.

I’m going to aim for once a fortnight, so we’ll see how it goes!

So for now, I’ll leave you with my Five Happy Things for this week:

One

It was my boyfriend’s birthday this week and as a surprise I’ve booked for us to go to Berlin at the end of April! It’s a city neither of us have visited but it’s been in the top few places to go for a while now. I can’t wait to start planning our trip and working out what to do while we’re there (if you guys have any recommendations please let me know!!). I’m also really happy I managed to keep it a secret from him as I’ve had it booked for a couple of months now – finallllllyyyyyy I can talk about it!

Slightly boring, but a totally legit adult task… this month I set myself the task of trying to plan my meals a bit better. I live a couple of doors down from a Co-Op and those of you in the UK will know it really isn’t the cheapest place to buy food – it was becoming a habit of just popping there after work to buy a bag of food, rather than doing a structured shop, so enough was enough! So far I’ve planned all of my meals and organised a online food delivery which was waaaaaay cheaper. My favourite meal has got to be this Warm Buckwheat & Spicy Broccoli Salad from Deliciously Ella.

Three

I bought 2 new cushions from Homesense that I absolutely love. The leaf print totally ties my living room together and I love the effect they have. I also found this incredible ‘Love’ neon sign – I have a ‘Dream’ one above my bed and I adore it. I saw one a few years ago in a ridiculously stylish magazine and instantly knew I needed one in my future house. Well after researching the cheapest I could find was around £350! Not exactly to my budget. So when I found my ‘Dream’ one in Homesense for £40 you can imagine how quickly I snatched it up and happy danced all the way to the checkout. So when i came across this ‘Love’ version, I just couldn’t leave it behind. I think it’s going to live in my Study so I’ll post a picture when it’s in it’s new home.

I ate Fish Tacos for the first time this week and seriously, why has it taken me 26 years to discover them!? Obsessed.

Finally, I finished Making a Murderer. And although that might not be seen as a particularly good thing, I now know why everyone was so angry. I am a BIG documentaries watcher. I just love them. And although there’s no way I would use the word ‘love’ about Making a Murderer, it was totally eye-opening and I refuse to believe something good wont come out of the documentary being made. If any of you haven’t watched it, you need to. I’m with Steven Avery all the way.

And that’s it. My Five Happy Things this week. It was a good week.

I like the weekly post idea. And I enjoyed the things that made you happy. You are a thoughtful girlfriend to take your guy to Berlin. I also love the pillows!
