Reinvention & Growth // Life Update

So I’ve got something to tell you guys.

In September this year I decided to start studying for a diploma in Massage Therapy (iTEC). For too long now I have wanted more creativity in my day to day life, and so after lots of research, soul searching and conversations with important people in my life, I decided that this was the path I would take and see where it leads.

I have been studying for 2 months now and probably around April 2017 I will be a qualified Massage Therapist! It feels very strange to be back learning again, but I have already learnt so much and I have been reintroduced to the human body and my brain hurts from the detailed anatomical and physiological understanding you have to have as a Massage Therapist. But above all I have fallen in love with Massage.

I think it is a privilege to be able to touch the human body. Throughout our day to day lives, it isn’t very often we touch another human. Sure, we shake hands, we high five, we hug hello and good bye, and of course we kiss, cuddle, touch and sleep next to our partners. But the people in your life who you physically touch are probably only a small handful. Humans like their space, and if a stranger started to touch your arm without permission, you’d probably have something to say about it.

So as a Massage Therapist, you are trusted by the individual to cross into their personal space. Something that will be quite rare or infrequent for the majority of people. And I think it’s a privilege to be able to do that. It’s pure human connection.

After Christmas I will start to take on clients as a trainee and I’m honestly so excited to see where this path leads in 2017. I’ll keep you updated with my progress!

This sounds awesome! I have been dithering over changing careers and doing something I love but come up with so many excuses. Can’t wait to hear more about how you get on!
