Top Interior Trends of 2017

I’ve teamed up with Elite Blinds today to share with you my favourite pick out of the Top 8 Interior Trends expected for 2017. As you guys know, I absolutely love interiors and I firmly believe home decor and room styling is an ever evolving practice and process. I don’t think I could ever say a room was done, as I’m constantly falling in love with new trends and pieces for my home and that’s what makes the decorating process so exciting and dynamic!

So here are the 8 trends that are going to be making a big statement throughout 2017:

Top 8 Interior Trends of 2017

Green: Green has been named the Pantone colour of the year 2017. Representing refreshment and revitalisation, anything from lime to emerald is set to add an update to colour to a room.

Tropical Prints: Coming off the back of a strong 2016, tropical prints will continue to grow and will be seen across wallpaper, bed sheet and designer fabrics.

Butterflies: No longer designated just for children’s bedrooms, butterflies are an increasingly popular and cheery choice. A symbol of grace and optimism, butterflies can lighten a room through feature wallpaper and fabrics.

Mixed Patterns: There’s no longer a need to stick to one print fits all. Why not add geometrics with African inspired prints or polka dots with bohemian fabrics? This trend gives you the opportunity to try something completely different, with no rules or boundaries.

Marble & Brass: Marble and brass is one of the classic combinations which has slowly seen a rise amongst designers and bloggers in the know. A combo that works in a utilitarian sense inside of bathrooms and kitchens but has began to creep into bedrooms and living rooms alike.

Texture: Spending 90% of our time behind flat screens, it’s nice to see and feel texture in our homes. Textures can evoke all kinds of emotions from relaxation, to lust and chaos. Go wild.

Navy: Gone is the starkness of black, often making a room feel small. Navy adds a sense of style and contemporary mystery to a room. With a traditional element, navy pairs with most colours well and allows you to stretch those stylish muscles.

Raw White: Taking a move away from polished and finished whites which can create an impersonal and sterile finish, raw white offers chalk and bone like white tones to a room. Adding a sense of texture and rugged real life to homes.

My Choice:

It was so tough to pick just one of these trends to feature today, however, I just had to go with Navy. Navy is the new Black for 2017 and I find it can bring depth to small spaces but warmth to large cold areas as well. Navy is a really versatile colour and it pairs well with most colours so it’s a really good base to a room. I love how it looks paired with gold or brass accessories, and little pops of grey to add dimension.

I’ve put together a mood board to give you guys some inspiration for how Navy can be incorporated into your homes, whether you go all out with a Navy paint job, or you want to keep it more subtle with accessories and textures.

What do you guys think of the Navy trend? I’d love to hear which of the Top 8 Trends you’re most excited about!
